What Does Organic Mean?

Many new parents who are considering looking for organic products for their baby wonder what organic means. They hear the word, and are told that it is good to use organic things for their baby, such as food, clothing, bedding, and toys. They’re told organic is healthier, safer, and that they’re being better parents by using these things rather than traditional, non-organic products. But many parents wonder how anything can be non-organic, unless it was created in a lab. After all, if something comes from nature, isn’t it automatically organic? Not necessarily.

Organic products have a very specific definition. They are products that are made or manufactured using materials that have been produced without using any synthetic chemicals or poisons. For food, this means the food was grown without any pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals being sprayed on it. With clothing and bedding, it means the fabric is made from thread from a natural source, usually cotton, hemp, or bamboo, that was grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals. With toys, plastics are usually out altogether, since plastics are full of chemicals. Organic baby toys are those made with cloth of an organic origin, sustainable and non-chemically treated wood, or some other material found in nature and unadulterated in any way (this extends to paints and other parts used on the toys).

It is very important to use only organics with a baby. It’s important for adults, too, for obvious reasons, but with babies, it is even more essential, because they are still developing, and they can be more easily affected in a negative way by exposure to the harsh chemicals used in most conventional products these days. Chemicals can disrupt their hormones, affect their immune systems, cause them to have neurological difficulties (including ADHD, autism, and similar disorders), and much more. Many people with chronic illnesses experienced for the first time as an infant can trace the origin of the condition back to the chemicals that were in the products they were exposed to as babies.

So, now you know what organic means, and why organic products are the best for your baby. You should be happy to know that you don’t have to pay a fortune for these products. You can easily find affordable deals on everything organic for your baby by shopping around online. Just remember that doing this is what your baby needs and that you’re being the best possible parent by going organic for your baby, and that will be all the motivation you need to find everything your baby needs in an organic model.
